CAREER FOCUS PROGRAM
Wage Subsidies for New Hires
The CSCSC's Career Focus Program is a wage-subsidy program that helps employers hire new employees in supply chain roles. (Supply chain roles are defined on page 2 of our Supply Chain Sector Facts and Figures document.) The employees must be post-secondary graduates, of university, college, association or private-sector programs, and aged 30 or under.
The CSCSC provides eligible companies with a subsidy equal to one-third of the eligible participant's salary, to a maximum of $12,750 over a maximum one-year work-experience period. This subsidy is paid in instalments throughout the work-experience period, with the amount calculated using payroll data for the participant.
Participation is simple: enrol in the program, then select a candidate, complete an application form and, if approved, submit proof of wages paid in each pay period. Note: It is essential that approval into the program be finalized and the contract be returned to our office prior to employee start date. Approval of applications takes just one or two days.

"The support of the Career Focus Program gave us the extra confidence needed to hire someone without much experience in our industry. Our new team member has shown a great aptitude and some good early success. It would have been a little more difficult to make the hiring decision, and we may have held off adding a new person, if we did not have the help of the Canadian Supply Chain Sector Council. We are very happy with the program and, if it continues, we may be in touch and attempt a more-aggressive growth strategy, which would in turn get more young and talented people some practical experience in the logistics field."
